Netherland Lofts, Miami

When long time clients and good friends came to Barrie with their newest acquisition (the entire 4th floor 6,000 sq ft of the Netherland @ 1330 Ocean Drive) it was a dream come true. Raw space is Barrie’s favorite type of project. Why? Because space planning is a challenge that uses all elements of the design process. This project required a master space plan that would optimize the gorgeous views of Lummus Park, the tall coconut trees and the magnificent turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

The interior selections were chosen to bring the exterior beach colours inside and evoke a feeling of calmness and serenity. The look is decidedly Urban Beach and all units come standard with 2’ x 2’ slabs of Brazilian Bahia a gray limestone that has the odd fleck of fossil shells sprinkled within. The use of teak wood and washed Oak blends harmoniously with the abundant palms outside the windows and the soft and variegated greens of the marble and mosaic glass bears strong resemblance to the sand dunes and palm frons below. All Master Baths are appointed with benches and 4 body jets, walls of white glass mosaics and marble, and Washed Oak vanity bases with green Marble counters. The kitchens are by Poggenpohl using there new horizontal Teak veneer cabinets (see computerized rendering) appliances include Miele built in espresso coffee machines and ovens, Sub Zero refrigerators and Bosh dish washers.
