The Secret Garden of Serra Retreat

Deep in the heart of Malibu's guard gated Serra Retreat is this splendid fish tail palm specimen. They are particularly difficult to grow in Los Angeles as the often extended cool grey spells we have do not agree with the palms totally tropical genealogy. 

Behind this estate sits a large hill that buffers the northern Santa Ana winds. My guess is that this palm has been lucky to be planted in this idyllic micro climate which we know as the magical Serra retreat. I stop and look at this Palm all the time as its beauty is truly awesome. Give acknowledgement to all living things. Today and everyday
